Abbey Restorations is a well-established furniture restoration and repair company located in Darley Abbey, on the outskirts of Derby City.
The business is one of the oldest antique furniture restorers in Derbyshire, formed by David Standing – the current owner’s father some 60+ years ago; David was a lone master craftsman until Allan joined him some 10 years later and eventually took over the business nearly 50 years ago.
Allan has learned his trade from one of the best; the workshops which are the original business premises, are like an Aladdin’s cave of beautiful timbers and fabrics; some of the old traditional tooling and machinery remain, and much of it is still used today to reinstate the beauty of your furniture and most treasured items.
Allan’s skills include French polishing, carving, veneering, wood-turning, desk relining, caning and re-upholstery; these skills are used to sensitively and sympathetically nurse your furniture back to health.
Whether your piece just looks a little tired or it has sadly met with damage such as flood water, cigarette burns or marks caused by heat or alcohol, scratches, chips, dents and breaks, we can deal with it all and restore your furniture back to health.
From the simplest chair repair to the most complicated restoration, we are happy to undertake commissions of any size from private individuals or commercial businesses. Estimates are provided without obligation and we are happy to formally quote for the purposes of an insurance claim.
To further assist, we can provide a collection and delivery service normally arranged between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. – Monday and Friday. NB. You are also welcome to drop things off directly to our workshop but please call before visiting – our contact details can be found at the foot of this page or on the Contact page.
